The Justmann Band, formerly the Andy Justmann Orchestra started in 1947 in the Mayville area. Andy Justmann played his first job in 1947 and graduated from Mayville High School. The Band evolved into a family Band. Over the years the children grew up and the Band recorded several albums. The early years the Band played throughout the Midwest. They also entertained on an International scale with tours throughout Europe and the Caribbean, where they entertained the Ballroom Gliders on board a cruise ship. Charlie, Andy’s oldest Son, took over the Band in 1997 and built on what his Father, Andy, had begun.
Today, the Band plays Modern, Rock, Country, Big Band, Polkas, Waltzes, Latin, Dixie, Contemporary and more. Also, featured are ethnic selections with German vocals and yodeling. In recent years the Band has been featured at the Lake of the Torches Casino, Central Wisconsin State Fair, LaCrosse Oktoberfest, Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest and among others, not to mention Festivals, Weddings and numerous other public & private events.
The members are Charlie Justmann, Bass guitar, bass horn and vocals. Charlie performed professionally with many bands over the years starting with his Father’s Band when he was age 15. He has been recorded on numerous CDs, cassettes and LP recordings with various bands over the years. Charlie does the bookings, library building and behind the scenes work of the Band.
John Johnson performs on Trumpet, Flugelhorn and Vocals. John is formerly of the UW Madison Marching Band. He is a professional in every way and has played with numerous bands. John is one of the best.
Monica Barden performs on vocals. She understands music, style and is one of the most versatile singers that will grace the stage.
Shawn Johnston, Saxaphone, Clarinet, Keyboard and vocals, another true professional. Though still in his 20s, Shawn is already arranging music selections for the band.
Kyle Dewitt plays Sax, Clarinet, Flute, Guitar and vocals. Also still in his 20s, Kyle is an extremely talented entertainer.
Lyle Miller, keyboard/piano and vocals, is the backbone of any Band.
Nathan Mallek, a recent graduate UW Stevens Point plays Saxaphone and Clarinet. Nathan is very talented and truly enjoys being part of the Justmann Band.
Eric Hendrickson, an Attorney, played with many bands and has his own rock band, plays drums, electric and bass Guitars, and vocals.
Jeff Schram, Lead Trumpet. Jeff is Band Director at Merrill High School. Jeff does it all! Mike Barden, Piano/keyboard is a virtuoso, one of the finest you’ll find. No one does it better.
Tony Wagner is on drums and percussion. Tony has played professionally most of his life and has played with some of the finest throughout the Midwest.
The Band has numerous recordings out with the most recent being “My Way or the Highway”. The “Christmas Satellite Dish” song, recorded by the band, is heard on radio stations throughout the Midwest during the holiday season and actually enjoys radio Air-time year round. The Band has 5 CDS and 3 Cassettes available.
